Profile:Dr. Baljeet Singh
Dhillon- the eldest son of Risaldar S.Sucha Singh
Dhillon, who served in one of the most illustrious regiments
of the Indian Army-The 4th Hodson's Horse.
Dr. Dhillon had his schooling
upto Matric from Rajkiya High School, Dhanaula (Distt. Barnala-Punjab), was
a State merit Scholarship holder in Matric. He did his pre-medical education
at Khalsa College Amritsar and than joined as M.B.B.S student in his
alma-mater the Glancy
Medical College, Amritsar (now Govt. Medical College, Amritsar). He did
his Post Graduation in Ophthalmology from the Department of Ophthalmology,
Govt. Medical College, Amritsar under the stalwart of those times
Dr. M.R Chadha and than trained under his Guru- the prodigy Dr. Daljit Singh.
Apart from being a post graduate in ophthalmology he holds a P.G Diploma in Hospital Management
& administration from National Institute of Health & Family Welfare, New
Delhi.
Dr. Dhillon has served the people of rural & urban areas areas while working as
Distt. Eye Surgeon in State Health Services cadre under P.C.M.S for
9 years; thereafter joined State Medical College cadre in 1985 and
served the State Medical Education cadre (P.M.E.S-I) educating and training
students for 22 years. He sought pre-mature retirement after 30 years of
distinguished & unblemished Govt. service in March, 2007 as Associate
Professor-Ophthalmology.
Dr. Baljeet Singh is presently working asProfessor & Head, Department of
Ophthalmology, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences &
Research,
Amritsar-India and is keenly working for the establishment of Post-Graduate department
of Ophthalmology.
Areas
of Interest: Pediatric Ophthalmology, Community Ophthalmology, Squint,
Pterygium, Glaucoma, Cornea.
Academics:
Currently
External Examiner for M.B.B.S & P.G/Diploma programs in three reputed Universities. So far
guided 30 Masters degree (M.S) research students, having a wide ranging
teaching experience of teaching M.B.B.S students, P.G students, Diploma,
Ophthalmic technicians, Nurses & Health Workers. Attended more than
30 International, National and Regional Conferences on Ophthalmology
& Health care.
Have visited
Canada, U.S.A & Pakistan for attending International Conferences on Eye
Care and presented research papers.
Publications:
He has to his credit published/presented more than
40 research papers and written/published numerous articles; 4 different
books on Eye care and Punjabi short stories. A keen writer and a good
speaker has participated and presented numerous talks on Health and
Eye care on Radio and Television.
